Hope Town is located just 4 miles off of Abaco where Marsh Harbour, the city of Abaco is located. Abaco is conveniently less than 180 miles east of Florida and about 100 miles northeast of Nassau, New Providence.

It takes just 4 easy steps to get to Hope Town:

1- Fly into Marsh Harbour, Abaco either; commercial or private. 

2- Take a 15 minute taxi ride to the Albury’s or G&L Ferry Dock.

3- Take a 20 minute ferry ride over to Hope Town, Elbow Cay. 

4- Firefly Sunset Resort shuttle will pick you up from the dock in Hope Town harbor and bring you to your villa.

*If renting a boat for your stay, coordinate pick up location with the rental company- many will pick you up from Marsh Harbour as well. Check with our concierge services for more information on renting your own boat.

Firefly Sunset Resort is located on Elbow Cay. Elbow Cay is home to The Abacos’ most famous landmark—candy-striped Elbow Reef Lighthouse in Hope Town, built in 1862. It stands at 89 feet and is one of only a handful of manually operated lighthouses in the world. The Abaco's are a group of islands and cays that form a 120-mile–long chain stretching over 650 square miles. 

You may bring your pet into The Islands of the Bahamas, but you need to make preparations before your departure. An import permit is required from the Ministry of Agriculture, Trade and Industry (Nassau), for all animals being brought into the Bahamas. Applications for such permits (along with a $10 processing fee) must be made in writing to the Director of Agriculture, Ministry of Agriculture, Trade and Industry, PO Box N-3704, Nassau, The Bahamas. Hope Town does offer a small grocery along with liquor stores. However, if your stay will be a week, it’s suggested that you shop at the grocery in Marsh Harbour at Maxwell’s or Abaco Groceries to pick up what you will need. We do offer concierge services like grocery shopping, but you will need to provide a list to us prior to your arrival. 

Since Elbow Cay is a small island, visitors use golf carts to get around the island. We can arrange golf cart rentals for you. In the Bahamas, vehicles drive on the left side of the road. You can also use bikes, which can be rented at Hope Town Canvas/The Bike Shop.

Every so often, our electricity on the island is hindered by weather and reasons unknown, leaving our phone system to also go down with the electricity. Trust us, we’re not ignoring you.
